Long weekend celebrations made easy

Summer is here and that means longer days, warmer nights and more 3-day weekends. Whether you’re staying at home, poolside or about to head to the cottage or beach, being prepared for the festivities with tasty snacks and ‘sippers’ is key. Here are four snacking ideas that will have you set up and ready to enjoy the weekend!

If you’re leaving early in the morning:

Your bags are packed, you’re ready to go. But what will you eat along the way? Ditch the drive-thru or pricey rest stop pick-ups, and prepare something at home before you go. Consider homemade muffins, dried fruit energy bars or a classic crisp, like our raincoast crisps® cranberry and hazelnut to munch on while you drink your morning coffee on the road.

If you’ll be outside all day:

Portable snacks are key, especially if you’re planning on being outside for a long period of time. Packing easy-to-make snacks like fresh fruits, veggies and trail mix will keep you fueled for your hike, boat ride or neighbourhood stroll.

For savoury cravings:

Our raincoast crisps® rosemary raisin pecan is so versatile it can be served as a sweet or savoury snack. Consider topping them with salami & plum preserve to use either as an appetizer or midday nibble by the dock. If you need a drink, we recommend going with something refreshing. If you’re a gin fan, try a rosemary and gin grapefruit cocktail. It will add the perfect tangy taste to compliment the salty flavour in the cured meat.

For sweet cravings:

For a simple treat that’s sure to satisfy your sweet tooth, raincoast crisps® wild blueberry and almond crackers are just the thing. This crisp pairs well with soft cheese and fruity balsamic glaze. Enjoy this yummy snack on your patio or while you’re by the lake with a fresh mojito. The sweet taste of rum and mint from the mojito will flatter the blueberries from this delicious snack.

While long weekends are an excellent excuse to see a few loved ones and friends, it is also a good occasion to be more creative with fun snacks and drinks! Visit our recipes section for more inspiration to help you create memories this summer!
